2006 Dry Grown Shiraz and 2006 Reserve Dry Grown Shiraz
Ok. So we've read the press. 2006 was a bad year in Western Australia. Poor ripening condition and most people left their red grapes on the vine. But this is the beauty of a Dry Grown Vineyard. We had no problem ripening our fruit and the result is two wines that are excellent value. so much so we took the wine that was in new oak and made a Reserve Shiraz, confident in our quality.
2006 Dry Grown Shiraz
Dark, violet and dense in appearance, the 2006 shiraz has many attributes of its bolder senior,
the 2006 Reserve Shiraz.
The nose is more fruit driven, and is a distinguishing facet between the two blocks of shiraz at Galafrey’s dry grown vineyard. Blueberry, Cranberry, Plum and violets dominate the nose and these follow through to a fruit rich palate.
This fruit sweetness is evocative, conjuring images of Christmas cake and strawberry pudding. Accompanied by light grained tannins, this easy drinking red is prime for winter evenings and finishes where it began.
Fruit driven and scrumptious.
2006 Reserve Dry Grown Shiraz
Intensely deep rich purple almost black in colour
This Reserve Shiraz jumps out of the glass with an aromatic richness, betraying spiced fruits, pepper and cloves.
On the palate blackcurrant fruits coalesce with white pepper and bay leaf spices which are
bordered and uplifted by sweet vanillan oak and earthen leather.
The mouth is rich and round exhibiting sweet chewy tannins and a depth of fruit that belies its age. The concentration of fruit is persistent and enduring, and finishes with a coating of lingering pepper and licorice.
