VINEYARD
Fruit is sourced from our dry-grown, 49-year-old, 12-hectare vineyard in Mount Barker. Our mature vines are not irrigated, producing naturally low yields and small berries with concentrated flavour, colour and tannin. Planted on ancient gravelly loam soils in the cool-climate Great Southern region, the vines benefit from slow ripening conditions that build complexity and retain freshness. Cane-pruned and yielding approximately two tonnes per hectare, they consistently produce fruit of outstanding quality and intensity.
VINTAGE COMMENTS
The 2018 vintage commenced early under ideal conditions, with minimal disease pressure and excellent weather throughout the growing season. Extended hang time, particularly for the red varieties, allowed for exceptional flavour development and optimal ripeness, resulting in wines of remarkable power and concentration. The Great Southern has produced reds with uncommon richness and depth while maintaining the region's signature elegance, making 2018 one of the standout vintages of recent years.
