Tasting Notes
Our Reserve Riesling is crafted exclusively from 100% free-run juice, selected from the finest parcels of fruit to produce a wine of exceptional purity and elegance. Intense aromas of lemon, lime and citrus blossom lead into a concentrated palate bursting with vibrant citrus flavours, remarkable minerality and a long, zesty finish supported by crisp natural acidity.
This wine pairs beautifully with smoked salmon, freshly caught whiting or other delicate seafood dishes and will reward careful cellaring for many years.
Vineyard
Fruit is sourced from our dry-grown, 12-hectare vineyard in Mount Barker, Great Southern. Established more than four decades ago, these mature vines are grown without irrigation, relying solely on natural rainfall—a rarity in modern viticulture.
The low-yielding vines produce small berries with exceptional concentration, while the ancient gravelly loam soils and cool-climate conditions encourage slow ripening and outstanding flavour development. Cane-pruned and yielding approximately two tonnes per hectare, the vineyard consistently delivers Riesling of remarkable intensity, balance and longevity.
Vintage Comments
The 2025 vintage extended over 40 days, with lower yields making the fast-paced harvest conditions more manageable. Although rainfall events were significant, they were infrequent, and the growing season remained relatively dry following the previous year's heat.
Poor flowering during November reduced crop levels but enhanced concentration in the remaining fruit. The result is a vintage of exceptional quality, with the Riesling displaying outstanding natural balance, purity and precision. Early indications suggest this is a high-calibre vintage with excellent show and cellaring potential.
Winemaking
Mount Barker is internationally renowned for producing world-class Riesling, and this Reserve release is a true expression of the region. Produced from carefully selected free-run juice, the wine was crafted to preserve its vibrant fruit purity, mineral character and natural acidity.
Meticulous vineyard management and sensitive winemaking have resulted in a Riesling with layers of chalky minerality, lime, citrus blossom and subtle passionfruit notes. Beautifully balanced and finely structured, it offers immediate appeal while possessing the depth and precision to develop gracefully with extended bottle age.
