VINEYARD
Made from fruit brought in froma well established local vineyard down the road. The Great Southern area will be showing great ripeness and power not often seen in our wines. Look for great floral aromas in whites, intensity and power in reds
VINTAGE COMMENTS
A dry start to the season saw one of the earliest vintages on record. Record temperatures and revolving heatwaves made ripening conditions difficult. Spring and the lead into summer was dry with our last significant rainfall in September. However, quality looked good, but volume was down.
WINEMAKING
The dry, cool climate of Mount Barker will produce sauvignon blanc wine which is intensely aromatic and have a wealth of palate weight, depth and complexity. Not usually a commonality in this variety, but in dry grown conditions, things just seem to behave better! We endeavour through meticulous viticulture and wine production sympathetic to the vintage conditions to produce a wine that will express varietal characters in tune with its sense of place Winemaking is geared toward producing a wine that is well balanced, lively, well structured and most importantly drinkable.
